Cody attended Texas Tech University School of Law where he graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence and Masters of Business Administration in 2008. He developed trial skills competing throughout the country on Tech’s national mock trial teams. As the Vice-Chair of Mock Trial, he managed school’s mock trial program for the Texas Tech Board of Barristers. He was recognized with the American Jurisprudence award for his performance in Trial Advocacy and Legal Research and Writing. For a law school career as an excellent trial advocate he was inducted into the very elite “Order of the Barrister.” He was awarded the J. Hadley Edgar award for trial advocacy by the Tech faculty advocacy faculty advisors. This is an award given to only one law student each year.
Board Certification is a symbol of superiority in Texas, obtained only through extensive experience and a dedication to learning the law. An attorney must first have substantial experience in criminal trials and appeals. Then other lawyers and judges must recommend to the Board that the attorney be allowed to sit for the certification exam.
