Criminal Law Specialist Cody Cofer Teaches and Learns
Texas Continuing Legal Education in Criminal Defense
Every lawyer in Texas must complete at least 15 hours of continuing education to maintain their law license. The law is continuously changing and techniques are constantly being refined. Continuing education is essential for lawyers to stay on top of their game and continue to improve their knowledge base and skill level.
The College of the State Bar of Texas
For lawyers to become members of the College of the State Bar of Texas they must either complete 80 hours of continuing legal education over a period of three or fewer calendar years, or they must complete 45 hours of continuing legal education in the current or immediately preceding calendar year of application. Three of those hours of continuing education must be in the area of professional responsibility or legal ethics. Each year following the acceptance of a lawyer in the college, lawyers must complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing legal education credit during each calendar year.
